MxPx

So I had a decision to make this weekend. One concert. MxPx Friday night or The Big Ass Show pretty much all day Saturday? I decided on MxPx. I'm so glad I did! It was amazing! I asked Lane to go with me so I didn't have to rock out alone. He's a pretty big fan as well so he was happy to come along.

So we get there and a band named Tat was on. We took a spot near the bar where we could lean up against it. I wanted to get closer but I didn't want to get chucked into the mosh pit and get hit. My only past experience with a pit was during AFI. My good friend Kacy and I emerged from it covered in someone else's blood. Ewww.

Sound check starts for MxPx and I'm excited! We were standing sort of new the entrance area and I figured this was how they were going to come in. Lights go down and I'm watching between the stage and the entrance. They've got to be here somewhere. Then I see Yuri walk past us... arms length away. Then here comes Tom and Mike right behind him. I couldn't wait for them to get up there! By this time too many people started walking in front of us so I saw a gap in the crowd. I looked at Lane and said "I'm going up there!" I was two people away from the pit.. too close but it was ok.

The show was so good! They played a bunch of older songs and only one off the new album. I had such a good time. Then the were finishing and said they were gonna be back by the merch tables after their set. YAY! I might actually get to meet them!

They finish and Lane says "if you wanna get a chance you better get back there quick." So I nearly ran. :) I was standing there in the crowd and Yuri, again, walks past me. People started moving around and so there I was. Standing right next to Mike. No one else was talking to him so I just said Hi! I felt like a 12 year old at *NSYNC! He turned towards me and said hello. I asked him, trying not to look like an idiot, "can you sign these?" I handed him the tickets. He signed them and was fanning them so the signature would dry. Then I said "and the back of my shirt?" I happened to be wearing a Legionnaire shirt. It's a clothing line that he and Joe Moxley make. Love there stuff! I thought I had turned around for him to sign the back but I later found out from Lane that he had grabbed my arm to turn me around. :)

Mike Herrera. Holy Hot.

After that we made our way back to where we were standing to finish watching Lagwagon.

We left the show and headed home.

I had an amazing night and DEFINITELY made the right choice of which show to attend!

A pic I took. I have tons!

Twilight.

So, a bunch of my friends have read these books. One (Age) actually read them years ago when there was only the two out and she had to wait for three and four. I remember her telling me about them and asked to read them when she was done. Time went by and I thought nothing of them. Then the fourth book was released in August of this year. I started hearing all the hoopla that went along with it. I asked Age "Are these the books you had told me about?" Indeed they were.

This is where I started thinking... I don't want to get stuck with a whole bunch of books to read right now. I will wait for the movie, which comes out Nov. 21, and I'll go with them all to that but I'm not gonna mess with the books. I knew that if I did I wouldn't be able to put it down and I'd end up stuck in a corner reading all day and all night.

This is where it gets fun. There are two girls (friends of my brother) living in my mother's basement. One of them happened to have the first book, Twilight, laying around the house. I looked at it and thought "just maybe... No... Don't do it! Walk away!" so I did. The book seemed to be following me around the house. Like it knew that if it bothered me long enough I'd have to give in. It was in the front room, the kitchen, the stairs and finally next to the computer. I'm pretty much the only on that ever uses the computer here. So when it ended up next to me while I filled out some survey on Myspace I knew I had to just look. I read the prologue. Damn it! I knew I shouldn't have. I ended up, like I said, in a corner on my bed reading. I got through the first few chapters and I knew I needed the rest.

So my mother and I run to lunch... Oh it was so hard to leave the book home! I wanted to keep reading! But she compromised and said we'd go by a book store on the way home... Thank you mom. So I walk in to Borders and there they are! Glorious wall full of all of them! I grabbed Twilight and started looking at the other books in the series. I thought "I don't want to have to come back here when I'm done... why not just get them all now?" So that's exactly what I did. I bought all four books in one outing. Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.

I got home and immediately started reading again. I finished Twilight that night. P.S. This is on a Monday that I started reading. Started a little of New Moon and decided I should get some sleep. so I'm reading a lot. and trying to be productive throughout the day so, I clean a little here and there. The entire time being pestered if I was Team Edward or Team Jacob. :) By the time I got to Eclipse I was freaking out! I'd cried hysterically, laughed out loud, and felt like I couldn't put the books down for anything! I finished Eclipse at 5:30 AM Saturday morning... I just couldn't stop!

Saturday night we (ACBC and friends) went to Harry O's because Jackie was in from Chicago. I was telling the girls how much I had read already and they were so happy I was on the band wagon. We made plans that if there is, which there will be, a midnight showing we're going!

Well less than a week later I finished all four books. AMAZING! I'm so glad I read them. I was never a huge fan of Vampires and what not. But now I am. If you've ever question reading the books you should do it now! I will shortly be going out to buy Stephanie Meyer's other book, The Host.

Go read them! do it now! :)

The Hawaii trip I'm glad I missed

Two days in a row?! Has Hell frozen over? No. I'm just bored at home.

My mom took my two younger brothers to Hawaii a few weekends ago. They had fun while they were there but had one heck of a time getting home. My mom works for Skywest so they were flying standby. Getting there was a breeze. Coming home... not so much. There was 12 seats available when they left for the airport. When they got there all the seats had been taken. So they are sitting in the airport trying to figure out how to get home when the ticket lady said she had one first class seat available. Ok, who goes home? Wes said he didn't care if he stayed, he had the next day off work. Wes also thought that if he didn't take it they would all wait to go home together. Not the case. Bry took it. While he's walking down the terminal they called him back. Someone had booked the ticket within those few minutes. Now what? Wes and Bry took of down the airport to go explore. Ticket lady again says I have one coach ticket but they need to get on NOW. My mom takes off yelling to get back so one can come home. Bry grabs the ticket and boards. Now at this point in the story I was passed out asleep at home. I get a call from my mom, not knowing what time it is, I answer. She starts telling me all about what's going on yada yada... then the conversation is as follows: me- "so Bry is on a plane?" mom- "yes, he just got on." me- "Oh ok that's good." mom- "yeah he'll be home around 8 am." me- "wait! so do I need to go pick him up?" mom- "yes if you could." me- "why the hell didn't you start off by saying I needed to pick him up?! what time is it?" mom- "it's 2 AM in Utah." me- "oh my hell... ok I'll pick Bry up at 8 am. Does he know I'm picking him up?" mom- "yes, I told him you'd be there." me- "ok, I'm going back to bed now... have fun being stuck in Hawaii." Who calls someone at 2 AM and doesn't start the convo off with I need you to pick up your brother at the airport?! Anyhow, I pick Bry up. He's a sunburned critter. My mom and Wes finally got on a flight to LA at about 9 the next morning then flew into SLC. Long trip...

Here are a few pics from their trip. I just saw these last night on my mom's phone. She said Wes wouldn't actually smile in any pictures. He would only make this face. Strange child.

9/5/08

hmmm...

I've decided I'm not very good at keeping up with things. Every time I log into this I have to do the Forgot Password option. I'm good like that.

My life continues to throw me curve balls. Just when I think things are going where I want them to, I get a new pitcher and he/she throws me something I wasn't expecting. Sometimes I've been able to swing and make contact, sending my life into the wonderful unknown. Other times I'm striking out, but the balls keep coming.
Why am I using baseball in reference to my life? I don't even know that much about the sport... maybe that's what it is... I don't know much about my life either.

I keep finding blogs of old friends and family members. Things that remind me that I do have people in my life that are worth keeping around. People that are good for me... I hope I'm good for them.

In the midst of all the confusion that is "my life" I've had some very amazing things happen...I'm going to church again. Something I never thought I'd be doing again but, I'm glad I am. I've been hanging out with my cousin a lot more. It's been so nice. I've really missed her. I have someone I love. More than anything in the world. He's amazing in every way. I just need fate and time to work with me... not against me.

I'm hoping that in this chaos I will be able to keep this updated more... it looks so very empty.

Until then. Adios.
